Patient Participation Group

The Practice developed a Patient Participation Group in August 2011. The group meet five times a year to review patient services, attend education workshops and offer critical support to the practice from a patient perspective.

Profile of the Patient Participation Group

The aim is to have a diverse group of patients to help set priorities and shape the Practice in the future. The group meet in practice with the Duty Manager and practice Partner, there is an option to dial in via Zoom. In addition to the PPG attendees, patient participation is sought via the practice newsletter which goes out to over 1,200 patients.

We encourage new members via:-

• Information on the television in the waiting area
• Information on the practice website
• Notice boards in the waiting area, on the practice website and Facebook page
• Verbal invites from practice members
• PPG volunteers invite other patients and raise awareness at flu clinics

The following actions are taken to determine an appropriate agenda to assist discussion regarding practice issues:-

• An agenda and relevant information is circulated via email to group members
• Statistics are presented for analysis, discussion and action
• Patient workshops i.e. dementia awareness

The patient participation group gain wider patient opinion via:-

• Patient Survey
• Suggestions
• In-house complaints review
• Promotion in the practice newsletter

If you wish to join please register your interest at reception providing your email address. The role is unpaid and on a voluntary basis. There is no specific duration or contract.
